THIS YEAR: Senior Irek Sekretarski showed his potential as a sophomore by setting the school record in the mile and by running a leg on USC's 4x800m relay team which had the fastest time in the U.S. in 2007.

2008: Had season-best times in the 800m of 1:53.94 at the Mt. SAC Relays and 3:47.91 in the 1500m at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 3. Placed second in the 1500m at the Dual Meet. Came in ninth at the Pac-10 Championships in the 1500m with a time of 3:48.88.

2007: Had a season-best time of 3:46.53 in the 1500m at the Stanford Relays on March 31. Joined with DaSean Cunningham, Raphael Asafo-Agyei and Duane Solomon to run a 7:18.43 time in the 4x800m race on April 5 at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas the fastest time in the U.S. last year and the second-fastest all-time at USC. He set the USC record in the mile with a time of 4:01.89 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15, breaking the old standard of 4:02.00 set by Bruce Bess 41 years ago. Placed second in the 1500m in the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28 with a time of 3:51.64. Ran in the 1500m at the Pac-10 Championships at Stanford, but did not qualify for the finals.

BEFORE USC: Transferred to USC from Wroclawek University in Poland...Took over from Tomasz Babiszkiewicz in the middle distances for USC and continues the Trojans' impressive pipeline from the country of Poland...Has a best in the 800m of 1:48.18 and 3:40.32 in the 1500m.

PERSONAL: Irek was born on May 25, 1984...Surprisingly lists running as his favorite hobby...Says the athlete he admires the most is Lance Armstrong...He is a Sociology major at USC.
