THIS YEAR: Senior Darrell Rideaux is a two-time relay All-American and USC's fastest returning 100m sprinter. He is coming off a fine season on the gridiron.

2002: Rideaux didn't join the track team until May, as he had football commitments, but he continued to impress as a 2002 junior, finishing fifth at the Pac-10s in the 100m and then running an outstanding leadoff leg for the 400m relay squad that took fifth at the NCAAs in a time of 39.27 ... He also took second in the 100m at the UCLA dual meet ... Ran his fastest 100m of the season (10.42) in the prelims at the Pac-10s.

2001: Rideaux had a very good season in 2001, establishing a new PR in the 100m and helping lead the Trojans to a win in the UCLA dual meet ... His season was all the more remarkable considering the demands placed on his legs due to participation in spring football ... He shattered his previous PR of 10.37 by running 10.27 to take second at the LSU dual meet ... He ran 10.44 to place third against UCLA and help the Trojans to a key sweep of the 100m in the dual meet ... Took seventh at the Pac-10s in the 100m with a time of 10.59 ... Ran the leadoff leg on USC's Pac-10 champion 400m relay squad.

2000: As a freshman, Rideaux came through for the Trojans in a big way when he ran a 10.37w to take fifth at the Pac-10s ... Ran the leadoff leg on USC's 400m relay that finished fifth at the NCAAs in 39.54 ... Ran a PR 10.37 at the Centennial Invitational.

USC FOOTBALL: Rideaux had a come-through season for the Orange Bowl champion Trojans in 2002, as he filled the right corner spot vacated by NFL-bound Kris Richard quite well ... On the season, he had 46 tackles and two interceptions and was named the USC Special Teams Player of the Year ... He was a key special teams player and reserve cornerback for the Trojans in 2001 ... He led USC in kickoff returns that season, with a long of 40 yards and he totaled eight tackles ... Rideaux was an oft-used cornerback as a true sophomore, starting six times, collecting 21 tackles and deflecting four passes, though nagging injuries sidelined him at times ... Rideaux had 31 tackles and five deflections in 1999 despite being slowed early in the season with a back injury.

HIGH SCHOOL: Rideaux earned All-American acclaim in both track and football while at Long Beach (Calif.) Poly High ... Won the 100m (10.30) at the 1998 state meet and ran a leg on the 1998 state champ 400m relay team ... Won the 60m dash (6.77) at the 1999 National Scholastic Indoor Championships ... Finished second in the 100m (10.49w) and fourth in the 200m (21.30) at the 1999 state meet ... Ran a leg on the state meet record-setting 400m relay squad (40.33) ... In football, Rideaux played cornerback and was a 1998 USA Today All-USA first team, a Super Prep All-American, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West first team and Cal-Hi Sports All-State first team as a senior ... In 1998, he had 44 tackles, two interceptions and 11 deflections ... As a 1997 junior, Rideaux had 45 tackles and four interceptions as Poly won the CIF Division I championship ... He was a four-year starter in football, the first in school history.
