THIS YEAR: Redshirt sophomore Adrian Rafiee continued to learn and improve in the 3000m SC for USC last season, posting the eighth-fastest time in school history in his first season.
2011: Posted the eighth-fastest time by a USC men's steeplechase of 9:16.31 in placing fourth at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 1. Placed 13th in the event at the Pac-10 Championships on May 14 with a time of 9:35.83. Running in his first 3000m SC for the Trojans at the Long Beach Invitational on April 16, finished in 11th place with a time of 9:16.40 to crack in to the USC top 10 in the event. In fact, he was just the third Trojan in the last 22 years to break into the USC top 10 in the event and since he knocked John Peate (10th at 9:20.79 in 2007) off the list, there are only two runners since 1990 that are currently in the USC top 10 in the steeplechase.
BEFORE USC: Attended San Francisco during the 2009-10 school year, but did not compete in track and field.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Patrick Henry High in San Diego, Calif. where he was a CIF San Diego Section two-time 3200m runner-up. Also was a two-time California state meet qualifier. He was a four-time San Diego Eastern League Champion, three-times in the 3200m race and once in cross country.
PERSONAL: Adrian was born on November 18, 1900...Says his hobbies are the "3-Fs," family, friends and finance...Lists his favorite movies as Wall Street, Social Network and Anger Management...Lists Adam Sandleer as his favorite actor and Everyone as his favorite musician...Likes listening to any type of music that will pump him up while running...Is an Economics/Business major at USC...Is active in the community and was honored with a San Diego Union Tribune Academic Athletic Achievment Award.
