THIS YEAR: Senior Eva Orban enters the season as the defending NCAA Champion in the hammer throw and as the school record-holder in the event. She has placed no lower than third in all nine postseason meets in her career. The only thing she has yet to accomplish is winning all three postseason titles in the same season.

2008: Orban had an amazing junior season, bettering her school record in the hammer with a throw of 230-3 (70.18m) at the Northridge Invitational on March 15 and then going on to win the NCAA title in the event with a throw of 225-5 on June 13. She became the first Trojan female to win an NCAA title in the hammer. She also won her third consecutive West Regional hammer title with a throw of 211-9. She came up just short of making it a clean sweep in the postseason events, as she placed second at the Pac-10 Championships with a throw of 211-8. She showed her toughness though, as she entered the competition with a very sore right knee which almost caused her to miss the event. Also won her third consecutive Dual Meet hammer competition with a throw of 200-10 on May 2. She had injured her knee in practice during the week and just made the one throw which was good enough for the win. Competed in the Beijing Olympics for her native Hungary in the hammer on August 18, but her best throw of 214-6 (65.41m) did not advance her out of the first round.

2007: Had a season best in the hammer of 219-9 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15. For the second consecutive season she won the USC-UCLA Dual Meet hammer competition, this time with a throw of 210-0 (she set the meet record with a throw of 215-0 in 2006). Placed second in the hammer at the Pac-10s at Stanford on May 13 with a throw of 217-8, two inches short of the winner Britney Henry of Oregon. Achieved revenge at the NCAA West Regional in Euegene, Ore. on May 26, winning with a throw of 219-0. Took third in the hammer at the NCAA Championships on June 8 with a throw of 218-3.

2006: Orban made an immediate impact for the USC track and field program during her freshman season, setting the school hammer record and placing second at the NCAAs to earn All-America honors. She won the Pac-10 hammer title with a meet-record and then school-record throw of 221-7 (67.53m) on May 14 in Eugene, Ore. She passed Julianna Tudja's mark of 218-9 set in 2003. Orban then won the West Regional on May 27 in Provo, Utah with a new NCAA West meet record throw of 226-8 (69.10m), which also bettered her school record and established a Pac-10 record. Scored eight points for USC at the NCAA Championships on June 10 in Sacramento, Calif. as she placed second in the hammer with a throw of 220-11 (67.35m).
