    THIS YEAR: Redshirt senior Jade "Sunny" Niemeyer competed for half a season last year and began to regain her form. She adds to the Trojans' depth in the throws which in one of USC's strengths.

    2011: Opened her season at the Long Beach Invitational on April 16 after finally being cleared by the NCAA following her transfer from UCLA...She placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 168-6 (51.36m). She finished in fourth place in the hammer at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet and posted two throws which were PRs, first a throw of 177-6 and then her best mark of 179-0 (54.57m)...also placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 110-05 (33.66m), fifth in the shot put with a PR of 41-08.75 (12.72m) and sixth in the discus wtih a throw of 115-07 (35.22m). Placed 15th in the hammer throw with a mark of 149-2 (45.47m) at the Pac-10 Championships in Tucson, Ariz. on May 13.

    BEFORE USC: Niemeyer began her college career at BYU (2007-08), but did not compete as she used it as a redshirt season. Attended UCLA during the 2009 season and was the Bruins' top hammer thrower, placing ninth in the event at the Pac-10s with a throw of 169-0. Had a then lifetime-best throw in the hammer and sixth all-time by a Bruin of 172-10 to place third at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet. Also placed third in the hammer at the UCLA Invite with a mark of 167-6.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Niemeyer is a 2007 graduate of North Kitsap High where she was a four-year letterwinner in track and basketball. Niemeyer also lettered one season in volleyball. She set the school record in the shot with a mark of 39-2 and placed eighth in the event at the Washington state finals. Had prep bests of 104-0 in the javelin, 41-8 in the shot put and 152-8 in the hammer. She was a Junior National All-American in basketball, two-time all-league selection, team MVP and a four-time winner of the Top Offensive Player award.

    PERSONAL: Jade was born on September 22, 1988 in Omaha, Neb...Lists her favorite movie as Lilo & Stitch and favorite actor as Robert DeNiro...Says her hobby is buying purses...Is a big fan of sleeping...Is a Critical Studies in Cinematic Arts major at USC.
