Selma, Kleinsasser, Ozorai and Conatser Shine At Cal State L.A. Invitational
THIS SEASON: Sophomore Nicole Davies begins her second season as part of the USC track and field team. Was one of USC's top cross country runners this past Fall, but could not compete at the Pac-12 Championships due to injury. Will have surgery to repair a torn labrum and will miss entire track season.
2013: Posted a season-best 1500m time of 4:48.61 to finish 10th in her heat and 13th overall at the Ben Brown Invitational on March 9. She was one of USC's top runners in cross country as a freshman. Davies was USC's third finisher and 19th overall with a time of 18:18.2 in the opener at 5K UC Irvine on Sept. 8. Helped USC to an eighth-place finish at the 6K Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29 with a time of 22:22...she was the fourth Trojan finisher and 71st overall. Also USC's fourth finisher and 13th overall with a time of 14:12.1 at the 4K Highlander Invitational on Oct. 13. Competed at the Pac-12 Championships despite being diagnosed with step throat and came in 101st with a time of 23:54.
HIGH SCHOOL: Davies is a 2012 graduate of Coronado HS in Coronado, Calif. where she competed in cross country and track and field...She was a four-year qualifier for the cross country state meet, team MVP and captain...As a senior in cross country season, Davies won the CIF San Diego Section D4 2.75 mile XC Championship with a time of 16:47, 50 seconds faster that the second-place finisher...Davies also placed third in the Division 4 race at the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, completing the 2.93 mile race with a time of 18:21...In track she has PRs of 5:05.97 in the 1600m race, 4:48.39 in the 1500m race and 2:19.12 in the 800m race. As a senior placed fourth in the 1600m race at the San Diego Section Division 2 finals with a time of 5:10.20 and 10th overall at the San Diego Section finals with a time of 5:09.43. Won the 1600m race with a time of 5:11.10 at the City Conference Finals at Serra HS in San Diego on May 11...Was a National Honors Society student and vice president of the Leo Club...Was given the Top Female Student-Athlete Award as a senior.
PERSONAL: Nicole was born on January 7, 1994 in San Diego...Her parents are Julie and Bill and she has two siblings, Michael and Adrianna...Her father also attended USC...Likes being outside, doing yoga, going to the beach and being with friends...Likes all kinds of music and her favorite actress is Natalie Portman...Her favorite foods are greek yogurt and peanut butter...Would like to travel to Spain some day...Is a Business Administration major at USC...After college would like to pursue a career in sports media or sports law.
