THIS YEAR: Senior Kate Neeper can be a key member to USC's long distance running if she stays healthy and returns to her 2004 form.
2005: Neeper did not compete in track due to injuries...She was captain of the cross country team, but saw limited action due to nagging injuries.
2004: Took fifth place at the Pac-10s in the 10000m run with a time of 37:30.34...Ran a personal best in the 10000m of 36:09.24 on April 17 at the Mt. Sac Relays...Ran her best 5000m time of 17:46.19 on March 6 at the Long Beach Relays...Had a best 3000m run of 10:24.62 on March 20 at the Trojan Invitational.
2003: Set the USC freshman record in the 5000m with a time of 17:55 on May 10.
HIGH SCHOOL: Neeper was a 2002 graduate of Chaparral High in Parker, Colo....She lettered one year in track and all four years in cross country...Named to the cross country all-conference teams in 2001 and 2002...Was a National Merit Scholar and was valedictorian of her senior class.
PERSONAL: Kate was born on Nov. 8, 1983...She is a USC Trustee Scholar...She serves as a resident advisor in Marks Tower...Is the athletic chair for The Spirits in Action...Is a USC Dean's List member and named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team for cross country in 2003 and 2004...Studied abroad in Madrid, Spain in the summer of 2004...Lists reading, seeing movies, hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing as favorite pastimes...Is a double major in international relations and Spanish who would like to attend graduate school for international relations and one day work for the UN.
