    THIS YEAR: Sophomore Ross McDonald is USC's top returning pole vaulter. In January he set a PR of 16-6.75 (5.05m) in the pole vault at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev.

    2011: Had a season-best clearance in the final regular season meet of 15-11.75 (4.87m) to place sixth in the pole vault at the Occidental Invitational on May 7. One of the 30 percent to no height in the pole vault at 15-3.75 (4.67m) at the Pac-12 Championships in Arizona...Was one of three freshmen in the competition.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Newton South High where he had a best pole vault of 15-3 and long jump of 22-9. Was a two-time Massachusetts state champion in the pole vault and state record-holder. Twice finished third in the state in the long jump. Placed fifth in the pole vault at the AAU Nationals.

    PERSONAL: Ross was born on December 11, 1991 in Boston, Mass...His hobbies include playing the ukulele at shows and climbing mountains...His sister goes to grad school at USC...Lists his favorite actor as Brad Pitt and favorite recording artist as Kid Cudi...Is a Sociology major at USC.
