Trojans Win 12 Events; Cox leaps into top 10
THIS YEAR: Redshirt junior Tony Martinez is expected to compete in the distances for the Trojans.
2011: Was injured and did not compete.
2010: Ran a variety of distances for USC from the 1500m-5000m. Had the best 3000m steeplechase time by a Trojan of 9:58.66 to finish fourth in the Dual Meet on May 1. Had a best 1500m time of 4:05.65, best 3000m time of 8:59.07 and best 5000m time of 15:36.13.
2009: Had a career best time of 33:17.98 in the 10000m on March 28, 2009. Martinez also competed in the 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m.
HIGH SCHOOL: Martinez attended Elsinore High School in Wildomar, Calif. where he was named the High School Athlete of the Year. He also set a record in the two mile and was the team captain of the Track and Cross Country Team.
PERSONAL: Martinez was born on April 2, 1990 in Wildomar, Calif...He enjoys cooking and lists his favorite movie as Superman....His cousin Michele Ogden also attended USC...Is a Kinesiology and Biological Chemistry major at USC.
