    USC Continues Winning Ways At The Start Of The Track Season

    Trojans win eight more events at Northridge Invitational

    THIS YEAR: Senior Lauren Blackburn is healthy again and can provide the Trojans with one of the top sprint hurdlers on the West Coast.

    2013: Blackburn gradually ran herself into race shape as the season went on following offseason foot surgery. She placed third in the 100m HH at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 27 with a time of 13.41. She placed fifth in the women's 100m HH at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 13.52 to earn the Trojans four points in the team competition. At the NCAA Regionals in Austin Texas she ran in the first heat of the women's 100m HH quarterfinals and took third with a season-best time of 13.35 to automatically advance to the NCAA semifinals. Her time was the 10th-fastest among qualifiers. At the NCAA Championship in the third heat, she took seventh with a time of 13.46. Earning honorable mention All-America honors.

    2012: Blackburn had a Trojan 2012 best time of 13.23 in the 100m HH to place third at the Pac-12 Championships on May 13. Had a wind-aided time of 13.26 to advance out of the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in 11th place. Reached the semifinals at the NCAA Championships where she finished 23rd with a time of 13.52 to earn honorable mention All-America honors.

    2011: Blackburn teamed with Nia Ali to give the Trojans two of the top 100m hurdlers on the West Coast. Finished in ninth place in the 100m HH at the Texas Relays with a wind-aided time of 13.23 on April 9. Placed second in the USC-UCLA Dual Meet in the 100m HH with a time of 13.22 on May 1...Also took third in the 400m IH with a time of 60.18. Set a PR and a USC freshman record with a time of 13.06 in placing second in the 100m HH at the Pac-10 Championships in Tucson, Ariz. on May 14...Her time was .01 second faster than the previous record of 13.07 set in 2003 by Virgina Powell who went on to establish the NCAA record of 12.48 as a senior. Ran a 13.09 to finish with the fourth-fastest time at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Eugene, Ore. and advance to the NCAA semifinals. Posted a time of 13.35 at the NCAA Championships to finish 16th and earn second-team All-America honors.

    High School: Blackburn is a 2010 graduate of Sunset High in Dallas, Texas. She was team captain and won the state championship her junior and senior years in the 100m HH. Had a best 100m HH time of 13.39 and a 300m IH time of 41.08. Her 100m HH time was the best wind-legal time by a high schooler in 2010 and she had the fourth-best 300m IH time. Was named to the USA Today 2009 and 2010 girls high school track and field team and was tabbed as the 2010 Dallas Morning News Track and Field Women Athlete of the Year.

    Personal: Lauren was born on November 18, 1991 in Dallas, Texas...One of her favorite hobbies is photography...Lists her favorite actors as Will and Jayden Smith, favorite singer as Justin Bieber and favorite movie as Despicable Me...Is a Kinesiology major at USC.
