THIS YEAR: When healthy, senior Garry Jones is one of the top sprinters on the West Coast and a key member on the 4x100m relay team.
2005: Jones ran the first leg for USC's 4x100m team that finished third at the Pac-10s with a time of 39.39...He finished sixth at the Pac-10s in the 100m dash with a time of 10.55 and sixth at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 10.61...the 4x100m relay team took second at the West Regional with a time of 39.43...Helped lead the 4x100m relay team to a fifth place finish at the NCAAs.
2004: Continued to be slowed by injuries as a sophomore, but he did run a wind-aided 10.26 at the Trojan Invitational, the fastest 100m time by a USC sprinter under any conditions in 2004... He helped the Trojans sweep the Bruins in the 100m, finishing third in 10.49, but he pulled up in the 200m with a sore hamstring...That affected him the rest of the season and he did not compete in the 100m at the Pac-10s or the NCAA West Regionals.
2003: Jones was slowed by injury early as a freshman, but came on to help the Trojan 400m relay squad win the UCLA dual meet and the NCAA West Regionals...Proved himself an effective leadoff man, helping the Trojans run a season-best 39.75 at the NCAA Championships...Finished 10th at the Pac-10s in a time of 10.62...Ran 10.61 at the NCAA West Regionals...Ran a USC-PR 10.46 to finish second at the Trojan Invitational...Finished second at the dual meet in 10.58.
HIGH SCHOOL: Jones prepped at Oakland Skyline HIgh, where he was the Oakland Athletic League champion and Arcadia champion in the 100m...He had a PR of 10.45 in the 100m, which was the eighth-fastest prep 100m time in the nation in 2002...He ran the 200m in 21.64.
PERSONAL: Garry was born on July 24, 1984... He is an American Studies major at USC.
