    Trojans host first of three big meets at Loker Stadium this season

    THIS YEAR: Senior All-American Jaide Stepter is coming off an outstanding third season as a Trojan in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay. She ranks third on USC's all-time 400m IH list and ran a leg for both the indoor and outdoor school record-setting 4x400m relay teams.

    2015: Stepter opened up her outdoor season in style by running a PR and the third-fastest 400m IH in school history of 55.83 to place second at the Florida Relays on April 3. Her first place finishes include the Jim Click Shootout, the Mt. SAC Relays, the USC-UCLA Dual Meet and most notably, the Pac-12 Championship with a time of 55.85. She went on to qualify for the NCAA Championships where she paced 8th with a time of 57.12 to earn first-team All-America honors. Stepter and the 4x400m relay team also earned first-team All-America honors by placing second with a time of 3:29.97. The quartet of Stepter, Amalie Iuel, Kendall Ellis and Vanessa Jones set the school record at the West Regional with a time of 3:27.86, breaking the old school mark of 3:28.08 set in 1999. She also ran an indoor 400m best of 52.89 to place second at the MPSF Championships to help lead USC to the team title. She ran on USC's 4x400m relay team which set the USC indoor record with a time of 3:29.63 to take third at the NCAA Indoor Championships...that time was the 11th-fastest ever by a college team.

    2014: Stepter won the Pac-12 400m IH title with a PR and the fourth-fastest time in school history of 56.99 on May 18. She did not break the 60-second barrier as a freshman, but ran 58.93 in her first outdoor race of the season to win at the Trojan Invitational on March 22. She advanced to the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in the 400m IH, but finished 14th with a time of 58.30. Stepter showed during the indoor season that she was primed for a breakout season as she set an indoor PR of 53.98 in the 400m dash to place sixth at the MPSF Indoor Championships and anchored the third-place 4x400m relay team's 3:37.23 effort. She went on to earn indoor All-America honors running the third leg for the relay team which placed sixth with a school-record time of 3:33.20.

    2013: Posted a collegiate best of 60.62 in winning the 400m IH at the Ben Brown Invitational on March 9. Set a PR of 14.35 in the 100m HH in finishing fifth at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 27...also took second in the 400m IH at the Dual Meet with a time of 62.13. Placed 13th at the Pac-12 Championships in the 400m IH with a time of 62.04...also placed 20th in the 100m HH with a time of 14.47.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Stepter is a 2012 graduate of Canyon del Oro High in Oro Valley, Ariz. She has personal bests of 14.43 in the 100m high hurdles, a state-record time of 42.01 in the 300m intermediate hurdles and 59.54 in the 400m intermediate hurdles. She won three individual state titles (100m HH, 300m IH and long jump) to help lead her team to a second place finish at the 2012 Arizona state meet. She also placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.54. Following the season Stepter was named the 2012 Arizona Gatorade Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year. As a junior she led Canyon del Oro to the Division II state title by winning the 100m HH (14.62), 300m IH (43.40) and the 200m dash (24.99).

    PERSONAL: Jaide was born on Sept. 25, 1994 in Santa Ana, Calif...Her parents are Keith and LaTanya...Her father attended USC and her mother (Sheffield) was a collegiate champion and Olympian in the 400m IH...Lists her favorite actors as Denzel Washington and Will Smith and favorite musician as Musiq Soulchild...Says Allyson Felix is her sports hero because she is a great competitor, carries herself well off the track and is a Nike model....Likes soul food...Is a Communications major at USC with a minor in Animation and Digital Arts and would like to work for Dreamworks animation after graduating.
