THIS YEAR: Senior Bridget Helgerson enters the season as one of the Trojans top distance runners.
2009: Had a season-best 5000m time of 18:07.20 to place sixth at the Long Beach Invitational on April 18. Set a PR in the 3000m race with a time of 10:34.12 at the Trojan Invitational on March 21.
2008: Set a new PR and placed second in the 5000m race with a time of 18:05.63 at the Long Beach Invitational on April 19. Ran in the 5000m at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 3 and placed fifth.
2007: Had season bests of 18:34.80 in the 5000m and 10:48.77 in the 3000m.
Cross country: 2009-- Finished 14th at the Vanguard Invitational with a time of 18:33 to help USC claim the team title. Ran at the Pac-10s (7th among Trojans) and the NCAA West Regional (3rd Trojan finisher). 2008-- Was one of USC's top four finishers in every meet in which she competed for the second straight season. Placed fourth at the Pepperdine Invitational with a 6K PR of 21:14.55. Then placed third (17:25.30) at the Roadrunner Invitational to help USC win its second consecutive meet. She was USC's third finisher and 47th overall at the Pac-10s and the Trojans' fourth runner and 102nd overall at the West Regional. 2007-- Was USC's top finisher and seventh overall as the CSUF Invitational on Sept. 1 with a time of 18:37.50. Ran at both the Pac-10s and West Regional. 2006-- Was one of USC's scoring runners in all six meets. Led USC at the CSUF Invitational. Ran her best 6K of her freshman season at the Pac-10 Championships (23:50.23.
High School: Helgerson is a 2006 graduate of Jesuit High in Portland, Ore...She ran cross country and track in high school...Was third-team 2005 All-Metro in cross country...Ran the 3000m and 1500m races in track...Named the most improved on the women's track team in 2006...Had a personal-best time of 19:18 in cross country, a 4:56 time in the 1500m and 10:46 in the 3000m...Was on the honor roll all four years and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Lists competing at Nike Team Nationals, running the last leg in the distance medley relay at the XO invite in Eugene, Ore. and coming in first place to help her high school team win the meet as her most thrilling moment in sports...Likes to hang out with friends and family and has a passion for eating...Would like to own a restaurant someday...Was named honorable mention on the 2007 Pac-10 Cross Country All-Academic team...Chose to attend USC because of the beautiful campus, the weather, location, reputation, community, and for cross country. Has been named to the Pac-10 XC All-Academic honorable mention team the last three seasons.
