THIS SEASON: Redshirt junior Erika Peyton begins her second season competing as a thrower on the USC track and field team. She transferred to USC from Fresno State and redshirted the 2014 season.
2015: Peyton competed in the hammer and discus throw during her first season of competing for USC. She had a PR of 179-3 (54.65m) to take second in the hammer throw at the California Collegiate on April 4. She placed 18th in the event at the Pac-12 Championships with a mark of 153-2 (46.70m). She took fifth in her only discus throw competition of the season at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet with a best mark of 140-5 (42.79m).
2014: Redshirted following her transfer from Fresno State.
BEFORE USC: Attended Fresno State in 2013 and competed in track and field. Had 2013-bests of 140-9 (42.89m) in the discus at the Fresno State Women's Challenge on April 6, 35-1.25 (10.70m) in the shot put at the Cal Poly Invitational on March 5 and set a PR of 154-6 (47.10m) in the hammer throw at the Stanford Opener on April 2. Her discus PR is 148-9.50.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Placed seventh in the discus throw at the 2012 CIF Masters Meet with a throw of 135-0. Won the Mission League discus title with a PR of 148-9.50 (45.35m).
PERSONAL: Erika was born on October 12, 1994 in Studio City, Calif...Her parents are Dameron and Ronda and she has one sibling, Marquel...Her hobbies include dancing and singing...She enjoys Mexican food...Her favorite musician is Beyonce and her favorite actress is Meryl Streep...Hopes to visit Paris and Brazil some day and to become a published author and philanthropist...She is a English - Creative Writing major at USC.
