    THIS YEAR: Redshirt senior distance runner Eric Kleinsasser graduated from Occidental last June and is working on his PhD at USC with one season of eligibility remaining.

    BEFORE USC: Kleinsasser attended Occidental College from 2009-12 and earned a degree in Geology with a minor in Mathematics. Set PRs of 14:34.70 in the 5000m and 30:25.84 in the 10000m runs. Had an outstanding cross country career for Occidental, being named four times as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) male athlete of the year, the first male to be honored all four years. He was also a four-time SCIAC champion in cross country. Named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic team. Was an All-American in cross country his sophomore year.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Kleinsasser graduated in 2008 from Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, Calif. He ran both track and cross country.

    PERSONAL: Eric was born on October 20, 1989...His parents are Alan and Ann and he has one sister, Lisa...his mother earned her master's degree from USC...Lists his favorite food as any kind of bread...Is working on his PhD in Earth Sciences...His goals after USC are to do research on climatology and eventuall become a teacher.
