THIS YEAR: Junior Amechi Egbe emerged as the Trojans' top compliment to Ahmad Rashad last season and is USC's top returning sprinter.
2010: Had a best 100m time of 10.67w to place third at the Tiny Lister Invitational at CS Los Angeles. He also had his season-best 200m race at the same meet, placing eighth with a time of 21.60w. Took fifth place in the 100m (10.70) and seventh in the 200m (22.05) at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 1. Placed 12th at the Pac-10 Championships with a time of 10.69 in the 100m dash. Ran the first leg for USC's 4x100m relay team which placed second at the Pac-10 Championships with a season-best time of 39.88. The relay team ran a 40.00 time at the NCAA Qualifying Rounds in Austin, Texas to advance to the NCAAs. The relay team had a time of 40.96 in the NCAA semifinals in Eugene, Ore. and did not advance to the finals.
BEFORE USC: Attended Nassau Community College in 2009.
HIGH SCHOOL: Egbe attended Valley Stream Central HS in New York...Was All-State in the 100m and 200m dash...Was the County champion in the 200m and Junior Olumpic Regional Champion.
PERSONAL: Egbe was born on November 28, 1989 in Manhattan, N.Y....Likes to play the guitar, read neuroscience journals and walk on the beach in his spare time...His favorite movie is The Matrix, favorite actor is Will Smith and favorite band is Paramore...Is a Neuroscience/Pre-Med major at USC.
