USC Splits Annual Dual Meet With UCLA
Trojan women win fifth straight
THIS YEAR: Freshman Melia Cox is a big part of USC's No. 3 ranked recruiting class by Track & Field News. She should have a major impact on the USC program in the hurdles and triple jump.
HIGH SCHOOL: Cox helped lead her Long Beach Poly HS team to the state title as she won the 300m IH and placed second in the 100m HH at the California State Meet. Won the California Masters Meet and CIF Southern Section 100m and 300m hurdles titles. She has a best time of 13.34 in the 100m HH and 40.94 in the 300m hurdles. Cox also placed third at the state meet in the triple jump and has a best jump of 41-2.75. Cox finished fourth at the U.S. Junior Championships in the 100m HH with a time of 13.64 and won the Nike Nationals and broke her meet record in the 100m HH with a time of 13.71.
PERSONAL: Melia was born on Nov. 23, 1993 in Long Beach, Calif...She was an honor roll student all four years at Long Beach Poly...She has been involved in clean-up projects in the Long Beach community...Is undecided upon a major at USC...Lists her favorite movies as The Proposal and Stepbrother and favorite musicians as Chris Brown and Drake...Likes to shop in her spare time.
