THIS YEAR: Redshirt sophomore Jeffrey Churchman made great strides in the javelin throw last season and has continued his improvement during the offseason. He enters the season poised to break into the USC all-time top 10 in the javelin throw.
2011: Placed second in the javelin throw with a big PR of 206-1 (62.81m) at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 1 to earn the Trojans three points...Churchman's throw was just two inches outside of the USC top 10 in the javelin and was a PR by more than 23 feet. Placed 12th in the javelin with a throw of 179-9 (54.79m) at the Pac-10 Championships in Tucson, Ariz. Had only one clean throw at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Eugene, Ore. and finished 47th with a throw of 167-4 (51.00m).
BEFORE USC: Attended Santa Barbara City College.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Santa Barbara High and set the school 100-yard backstroke record.
PERSONAL: Jeff was born on Feb. 14, 1991 in Santa Barbara, Calif...He is a Business Administration major at USC...Lists his hobbies as singing in the shower, interpretive dancing and cup stacking...His grandmother, grandfather and a cousins Andrew and Sara also attended USC...He lists Tyler Miller as his favorite actor.
