THIS YEAR: Redshirt senior All-American thrower Brittany Mann will have one season to compete in the Cardinal & Gold after transferring to USC from Oregon this past summer.
BEFORE USC: Mann was a four-time All-American in the throws for Oregon, last season placing fifth in the shot put with a mark PR and school record of 57-4.75 (17.49m). She also won the 2016 Pac-12 shot put title with a mark of 55-7 (16.94m) and took eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 180-4 (54.97m). Indoors she won the shot put and was second in the weight throw at the MPSF Championships. She was also fifth in the shot at the 2015 NCAAs with mark of 56-6 (17.22m). Won her first Pac-12 shot put title with a throw of 56-6.75...also was sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 187-7 (57.17m). Was 11th in the shot put with a mark of 56-7.25m (17.25m) at the 2015 USATF Championships. She set a hammer throw PR of 188-3 (57.37m) in winning at the 2015 OSU High Performance Meet. Took third in the shot put with a throw of 57-1 (17.40m) at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 56-0 (17.07m) at the 2014 NCAA Championships, the first time she set the Oregon school record. Also took second in the shot put at the Pac-12 Championships. She redshirted the 2012-13 season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Mann graduated from Detroit Country Day School in 2012. Won a pair of state shot put and discus titles for Detroit Country Day School, as well as an indoor weight throw crown. As a senior in 2012, helped Detroit Country share the state title by winning the shot put (41-11) and discus (156-8). Best shot, 44-7, came earlier in the year in a dual meet with Inkster. Made big impact in the discus after the state meet at the Midwest Meet of Champions, winning with a prep-best throw of 165-2. That was the No. 5 discus throw nationally among high schoolers in 2012. Indoors in 2012 ranked third nationally in the weight throw with a best mark of 56-10 at the Michigan Indoor Track Series. Also impressed with a third-place showing at the New Balance Indoor Nationals with a toss of 55-8.5/16.98m. As a junior in 2011, won three state titles, two outdoor and one indoor. Won the Michigan state Division 2 title in both the shot put (41-0) and the discus (141-10) as her 20 points helped Detroit Country claim the team title. Ranked seventh nationally in the discus in 2011 with a best throw of 163-7. Indoors, captured the 2011 weight throw at the state meet with an effort of 47-8. Was the state runner-up in both events as a sophomore in 2010. In junior competitions, claimed 18 national gold medals in the throws dating back to third grade.
