Playing without 3 suspended starters and a fourth who was injured, USC still managed to post an impressive 79-68 victory over Ohio State on Saturday at the Sports Arena. Junior guard Ken Sims and sophomore guard Elias Ayuso each scored a team-high 17 points, senior forward Jaha Wilson had 16 and senior center David Crouse scored 15. USC led by as much as 17 in the first half before the Buckeyes cut the margin to 2 in the second half with 15 minutes left. Sims' 3-point shooting helped put Ohio State away.
Earlier in the week, USC lost at Tennessee, 71-59, on Wednesday. Senior guard Stais Boseman scored 13 points as the Trojans shot just 27.6 percent from the field.
USC defeated UC Santa Barbara, 98-92, in overtime on Thursday at the Lyon Center and followed that with a 91-61 win over Long Beach State at the Sports Arena on Saturday.
Against the Gauchos, USC got 31 points and 14 rebounds from senior forward Tina Thompson and managed to outlast the impressive 3-point shooting of UCSB guard Erin Alexander (40 points). USC sophomore guard Kristin Clark tied a close game with a 12-footer with 14 seconds left to send the game into overtime. In the extra period, sophomore forward Jodi Parriott scored 7 of her 20 points as the Women of Troy took an early lead and went on to the victory.
In the win over the 49ers, USC enjoyed a 20-point second-half lead, saw it fall to 8 points and then blew the contest open late, scoring the game's final 18 points. Thompson led USC with 26 points and 13 rebounds, senior center Michelle Campbell scored a season-high 15 points to go with 13 rebounds and sophomore forward Adrain Williams also posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Ken Sims, Men's Basketball: Sims, a junior guard, was 5-of-9 on 3-pointers against Ohio State and scored a team-high-tying 17 points. He is 14-of-25 from behind the 3-point line this season.
Tina Thompson, Women's Basketball: Thompson, a senior forward, scored 57 points and had 27 rebounds in USC's 2 wins last week.
