Athletes of the Week
Bret Awbrey, Men's Swimming
Awbrey, a sophomore, was second in the 200-meter fly (2:01.06) at the U.S.S. Spring National Championships and won the 400-meter free relay along with Gabe Woodward, Scott Greenwood and Mike Williams. Awbrey qualified for the 1998 Goodwill Games later this summer.

Torri Edwards, Women's Track
Edwards, a junior, won the 100 meters in 11.2 seconds and the 200 meters in 23.26 at the Pac-10/Big Ten Challenge on Saturday.

Seth Etherton, Baseball
Etherton, a senior righthander, struck out a career-high 15 in a 1-0 loss to No. 1 Stanford and was named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball. He allowed only four hits and no walks.

Djeke Mambo, Men's Track
Mambo, a freshman, won the triple jump (50-1 1/4) and long jump (23-6 1/4) and was second in the 110-meter high hurdles (14.42) at the Pac-10/Big Ten Challenge on Saturday.
