Zsofia Erdelyi of the women's cross country team and Kyle Sterling of the men's water polo team were named the USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (Nov. 2) for the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

The junior Erdelyi placed 22nd at the 2009 Pac-10 Cross Country Championships hosted by USC in Long Beach with a season-best 6K time of 20:38.91. She was the Trojans' top finisher as the team placed 9th in the team standings. Erdelyi and the Trojans will now prepare for the West Regionals to be held in Eugene, Ore. on Nov. 14. Last year, Erdelyi placed eighth at the Regional to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The redshirt junior driver Sterling scored a pair of goals to help USC come back from an early deficit at No. 9 UC Santa Barbara and secure a 6-4 win. UCSB scored first, but Sterling answered with back-to-back scores to put the No.1 ranked Trojans on top 2-1. UCSB was able to tie it briefly at 2-2, but never regained the lead. USC improved to 19-1 on the season.
