    Erdelyi, Sandoval And Ellison Named USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athletes Of The Week

    Zsofia Erdelyi, Ashli Sandoval and Kevin Ellison were named the USC Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week today (Oct. 6) for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 5.

    Cross country runner Erdelyi won the individual title at the Pepperdine Invitational on Oct. 4. with a time of 20:33.22 to lead USC to its first cross country team win since the 2001 season. USC finished 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 10th at the meet. For the sophomore Erdelyi, it was her second career individual race title.

    The sophomore midfielder Sandoval helped lead the USC women's soccer team to home victories over CS Bakersfield and CS Northridge by knocking in three goals and delivering two assists. She had two goals and two assists in the 7-0 win vs. CS Bakersfield on Oct. 2 and knocked in the first goal in the 2-1 victory against CS Northridge on Oct. 5.

    Ellison, a senior safety on the football team, registered a career-high 12 tackles, all in the first half, to help lead USC to a 44-10 win over No. 23 Oregon. Ellison was a key element to the Trojans defense which held the Ducks offense to just 10 points. Oregon had been averaging 47 points in its first five contests.
