    Kendall Bateman of the women's volleyball team and Peter Kurzeka of the men's water polo team were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (Sept. 26) for the week of Sept. 19-25.

    Kendall Bateman: Women's Volleyball: A senior setter, Kendall Bateman was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after posting two 40+ assists matches in the sweep of the Bay Area teams over the weekend, averaging 13.83 assists per set. She had 42 assists, seven digs and two blocks against the No. 1 ranked Bears, while directing theoffense to a .271 hitting percentage. Against the No. 2 Cardinal, she collected 41 assists, nine digs and one block, helping the Women of Troy extend their win streak to four matches. With the victories, USC jumped up to No. 5 in this week's AVCA Coaches poll after being ranked No. 12 last week. Through five conference matches Bateman is averaging 12.40 assists per set. She now ranks 14th in the nation in assists.

    Peter Kurzeka: Men's Water Polo: Kurzeka helped account for all but two USC goals in a 7-4 MPSF opening win for the Trojans over visiting No. 8 UC Irvine. Kurzeka scored twice and added three assists in the game to keep USC undefeated to open 2011. With a team-high 15 goals to date, Kurzeka has cracked the top-20 in all-time scoring at USC.
