    Freshman Carly Butcher of the women's soccer team and senior Rey Maualuga of the football team were named USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 8-14, it was announced today (Sept. 15).

    The freshman midfielder Butcher scored both of USC's second-half goals to erase a 2-0 deficit at Georgia and send the game into overtime which the Women of Troy won 3-2 in double-overtime. It was Butcher's second and third career goals. She scored her first collegiate goal in the previous game, a 7-1 win vs. Alabama. USC also won 6-2 Sunday at Clemson and is 4-2 on the season.

    The senior linebacker Maualuga had five tackles and a 48-yard interception run back for a touchdown in USC's 35-3 win over then-No. 5 Ohio State. For Maualuga, it was his fourth career interception and his first run back for a touchdown. The No. 1 ranked USC football team improved to 2-0 on the seaosn.
