    Kendall Bateman of the women's volleyball team and Joe McKnight of the football team were named the USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Sept. 7 for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6.

    The sophomore setter Bateman was named MVP of the Trojan Invitational this weekend as she was instrumental in the Trojans' capturing the title with sweeps of Florida Gulf Coast, Pepperdine and Northern Arizona. She had 102 assists (11.33 per set) and helped the team hit .326 for the weekend.

    The junior tailback McKnight ran for a career-high 145 yards and two scores to lead USC to a 56-3 victory over San Jose State in the season opener. McKnight averaged 10.4 yards per run and had one catch for 21 yards.
