Ashli Sandoval of the women's soccer team and Kendall Bateman of the women's volleyball team were named the USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (Aug. 30) for the week of Aug. 23-29.

Sandoval, a redshirt junior, led USC to a win and a tie on the road this week by scoring both goals for the Trojans. Sandoval connected on a long strike in the 40th minute at TCU for the game's only goal on Friday and then scored the equalizer in the 87th minute in a 1-1 tie at Texas on Sunday. Sandoval also headed a ball off the line at the end of the first half to keep it a one-goal game.

The junior setter Bateman registered 130 assists and 33 digs and was named Tournament MVP as USC captured the Luxe City Center Trojan Invitational held at the Galen Center. In Friday's season-opening sweep of LMU, Bateman had 34 assists and 10 digs. In the Saturday morning sweep of Bucknell she had 30 assists, five digs and two blocks, then in the 3-1 win over CS Fullerton Saturday night, Bateman had a career-high 66 assists and 18 digs. Bateman has picked right up where she left off last season when she led the nation in assists per set average.
