USC will be represented by 41 past, present and future athletes at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

USC has sent more athletes to the Olympic Games than any other university. From 1904 to 2004, there have been 365 athletes who attended USC before, during or after their Olympic appearance. They have collected 236 medals (112 gold, 66 silver and 58 bronze), including at least one gold medal in every summer Olympics from 1912. If USC competed as a country, its 236 medals would rank 19th most in the world, while its 112 gold medals would be tied for 12th most.

Leading candidates to keep USC's gold-medal streak alive in 2008 include basketballers Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson, water polo players Patty Cardenas, Kami Craig, Brittany Hayes, Moriah Van Norman and Lauren Wenger, track sprinters Allyson Felix, Torri Edwards and Angela Williams, soccer player Amy Rodriguez and swimmers Larsen Jensen, Klete Keller and Erik Vendt.

Of USC's 2008 Olympians, 12 will compee in track and field, 11 will compete in swimming, 8 in water polo, 3 in volleyball, 2 in basketball and rowing and 1 each in beach volleyball, diving and soccer. In all, Trojans will compete for the United States and 16 other countries (Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Jamaica, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Slovenia and Tunisia). Twenty-one of USC's 2008 Olympians have participated in previous Games, while 9 are current or incoming USC student-athletes.

Ten coaches with USC ties will serve on Olympic staffs in 2008.
