USC will be represented by 40 past, present and future athletes at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

USC has sent more athletes to the Olympic Games, and they have won more medals and gold medals, than any other U.S. university. From 1904 to 2010, there have been 396 athletes who attended USC before, during or after their Olympic appearance. They have collected 262 medals (123 gold, 78 silver and 61 bronze), including at least one gold medal in every summer Olympics from 1912. If USC competed as a country, its 262 medals would rank 17th most in the world, while its 123 gold medals would be 12th most.

Leading candidates to keep USC's gold-medal streak alive in 2012 include swimmer Rebecca Soni, track sprinters Allyson Felix, Bryshon Nellum and Josh Mance, soccer player Amy Rodriguez, water polo players Tumua Anae, Kami Craig and Lauren Wenger and volleyball player Nicole Davis.

Of USC's 2012 Olympians, 12 will compete in swimming, 12 in track and field, 10 in water polo, 2 in volleyball, 2 in beach volleyball, 1 in soccer and 1 in track cycling. In all, Trojans will compete for the United States and 17 other countries (Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia and Venezuela). Ninteen of USC's 2012 Olympians have participated in previous Games, 14 are current or incoming USC student-athletes and 23 are women.

USC's 40 athletes competing in the London Olympics is more than any school in the nation.

Seven coaches with USC ties will serve on Olympic staffs in 2012.
