USC CREDIT UNION MEN'S STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
USC senior sprinter Aaron Brown had a monster performance for USC last weekend in the annual USC-UCLA Dual Meet held at Drake Stadium in Westwood, Calif. Though the men's side came up short in the meet, Brown showed off his incredible speed en route to three victories for the men's side. The 2012 Olympian won the 100m and 200m dashes and also ran a leg on winning 4x100m men's relay team.

In his first event of the day, Brown helped the Trojans score five points by running as the second leg to help the Men of Troy win with a time of 39.76 to gain five points. Next, the senior from Canada competed in the 100m dash and he blazed to a 10.18 time, just ahead of his teammate BeeJay Lee. With his impressive performance in the 100m, the senior speedster finished his career in the USC-UCLA Dual Meet 100m dash with victories in all four seasons that he competed in the event. In his last event of the day, Brown came back to win his third race, taking the 200m dash with a time of 20.46 (+1.3).

The USC sand volleyball pair of senior Kirby Burnham and freshman Sara Hughes had a legendary weekend for USC at the AVCA National Pairs Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. over the weekend. On a warm and breezy day in Alabama, the dynamic Trojan duo captured the pairs title of the 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championship with a thoroughly dominant 21-15, 21-13 win over Hawaii's Karissa Cook and Brittany Tiegs. In the final, Burnham's huge block and Hughes' uncanny digs thwarted any offense Cook and Tiegs might have had. On offense, the USC duo mixed thundering kills with precision cut shots throughout the match. Burnham and Hughes, who were seeded fourth for the tournament, never lost a set on Sunday as they got to the final with sweeps in three earlier matches.

The pair's victory marked the second year in a row that a USC duo has won the AVCA pairs crown. Last year, Burnham won it with fellow USC All-American Stevi Robinson. Earlier in the day, Burnham and Hughes were named AVCA All-American first teamers. With the award, Burnham became USC's first two-time All-American in program history. The National Championship victory marked an end to the dominant season from the Senior-Freshman combo of Burnham and Hughes. The duo finished the season with an overall record of 42-4.

Other USC women's student-athletes nominated this week included: Tynia Gaither (track & field) for winning the 100m and 200m dashes as well as running a leg on the winning 4x100m relay team.; and Paige Fernandes, Vineta Moca, Krisztina Gyimes, Madara Strautmane, Keret Einaste, Madelyn Walters, Elizabeth Turner, Deirdre Fitzpatrick, and Svenja Jonas (women's rowiing Varsity 8) for delivering the dual-clinching win against UCLA on Saturday and remaining undefeated in the Varsity 8 race in the UCLA dual all time.
