Schreefel And White Earn USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors
April 7, 2008
Dewi Claire Schreefel of the women's golf team and Corey White of the men's track and field team were named the USC Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week today (April 7) for the week of March 31-April 6.
Schreefel won the Ping/ASU Invitational individual title in a one-hole playoff on April 6 after finishing with a three-day total of 209 (-7). The senior Schreefel had rounds of 68, 69 and 72 in winning her third career individual title and helping USC capture the team title. The Trojans won by 11 strokes over a field that included six top 11 teams.
White, a redshirt junior, won the javelin competition at the Texas Relays on April 5 with a school record throw of 256-10. He won the event by more than 21 feet and bettered the USC school record set by Nils Fearnley in 1995 (244-8) by more than 12 feet. His throw was also 14 feet farther than any collegiate javelin throw last season.
