Kaleigh Gilchrist of the No. 3 women's water polo team and Ray Sarmiento of the No. 1 men's tennis team were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (April 2) for the week of March 26 - April 1.

Sophomore Kaleigh Gilchrist has secured USC with back-to-back MPSF Player of the Week honors, following fellow sophomore Flora Bolonyai's selection last week by emerging as the MPSF's best of the week with today's Player of the Week pick. Gilchrist scored her second and third straight multiple-goal games last week starting with a hat trick vs. Hartwick before plugging in two more goals in USC's MPSF win over No. 5 California. Gilchrist was dominant at 2-meters in both games as she helped USC extend its win streak to six games, improving to 17-3 overall and taking a 4-1 mark in MPSF action. Gilchrist's recent scoring explosion has her leading USC with 34 goals to date after scoring 10 in a week's span of three games.

Now a double winner on the year, sophomore Ray Sarmiento has earned his most recent weekly honor after helping the Trojans haul in head coach Peter Smith's 200th career win at USC with a winning road trip to open up Pac-12 play.Sarmiento was dominant in doubles and singles against Washington and #59 Oregon. He paired with Daniel Nguyen for an 8-2 win in doubles at Washington before pinning up a 6-4, 6-3 win in singles over Husky Emmett Egger. At Oregon the following day, he opened with an 8-3 win in doubles before hustling to the first singles win of the day on a crushing 6-0, 6-1 win over Robin Cambier. The Pac-12 road sweep gave USC a 2-0 mark in conference action and improved USC to 21-0 in 2012 for an overall win streak of 41 in a row. Sarmiento improved to 29-8 in singles with a 14-3 dual-match mark, and is 20-4 in doubles with Nguyen to go with their 15-2 mark in dual matches.
