Vladimir Morozov of men's swimming and Alexandra Collatz of track and field were named USC Student Athletes of the Week for April 1 - April 7.
USC WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Alexandra Collatz, Women's Track and Field
Sophomore Alexandra Collatz is off to a strong start in her sophomore season winning the discus title at the Cal-Nevada Championships in La Jolla last weekend. Her mark of 178-6 (54.42m) was the second furthest in the country by a college female this year, setting a new PR for herself as well. This season already she has won the discus title in the Trojan Invitational and the Beach Classic in early March. Last year, Collatz set the USC freshman discus throw record in her first meet and broke it again later in the season.
USC MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Vladimir Morozov, Men's Swimming
Junior Vladimir Morozov finished NCAA Championship weekend with a splash breaking the NCAA record in the 100y free and earning USC's first title in the race since 1974. He later led the Trojans to the team's first 400y free relay win since 1977. USC finished fourth overall, the highest finish in the past twelve years. Heading into the 400y free relay, the Trojans were seventh at the meet, but Morozov swam a speedy final leg of 40.28 helping the Trojans win the race and finish fourth overall.
