LOS ANGELES – USC baseball junior Omar Cotto Lozada and women’s water polo junior Eike Daube were named USC’s Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-23.

    MEN’S STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
USC junior outfielder Omar Cotto Lozada was the hero of the Trojans’ come-from-behind victory against North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon. The Trojans were down, 3-2, with two outs against the Bison when Cotto Lozada stepped up to bat in the bottom of the 12th inning. With two men on base, Cotto Lozada belted a three-run walk-off homerun over the right field fence to give USC the 5-3 victory and a three-game sweep over NDSU. Cotto Lozada, who is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, hit 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs over the past week. With Cotto Lozada’s heroic blast on Sunday, the Trojans remained undefeated at 7-0 in the 2014 season.

    WOMEN’S STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After a relatively quiet start at the UCI Invitational, USC junior 2-meter Eike Daube exploded for the Women of Troy on the final day of the tournament with five goals. In the Trojans’ semifinal matchup against No. 4 California, Daube scored a hat trick and led the USC to a 12-7 win and a berth in the championship game against No. 3-ranked rival UCLA. In the title game, Daube scored both of her two goals in overtime to lift the Trojans to 7-6 victory over the Bruins. Thanks to Daube, the Trojans successfully defended their UCI Invitational crown from 2013 and improved their season record to a still unblemished 12-0.
