Kami Craig of the women's water polo team and Daniel Nguyen of the men's tennis team were named the USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (March 1) for the week of Feb. 22-28.

The senior Kami Craig had a four-goal outing in USC's MPSF opener against No. 6 Hawai'i, which lifted her into the all-time top 10 scoring chart at USC, as she took over the No. 10 position previously held by fellow Cutino Award winner and Olympian Lauren Wenger. Craig would add four more goals for USC during the UC Irvine Invitational, including a pair of goals in the Trojans' 10-6 upset of Stanford in the championship game. In addition to earning a number of exclusions for USC throughout the tournament, Craig's two-goal game in the final helped USC avenge an earlier loss to Stanford, improving USC's win streak to nine games while snapping Stanford's undefeated start to the year. Craig has 142 career goals now and 16 this season.

The sophomore Nguyen won out in doubles and singles during USC's 7-0 sweep of San Diego State early in the week, then came up huge for the Trojans in an incredibly tight match at No. 14 Stanford in a rematch of last year's NCAA Round of 16 clash. Due to the threat of rain, USC and Stanford opted to play out singles first, with doubles only played in the event of a singles tie. Nguyen had the most decisive singles win of the day as he opened the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Matt Kandath to help USC to an early lead. Singles play would end up even at 3-3, bringing up the deciding doubles matches. The winning point came down to Nguyen and partner Steve Johnson at the No. 2 position, as the unranked Trojan pair faced Stanford's #26 Clayton/Wire. Nguyen and Johnson pushed the match to a tiebreaker and pulled ahead and clinched the match by claiming the tiebreak 7-3 to win the match for USC.
