    Stina Gardell of the women's swim team and Alex Stepheson of the men's basketball team were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the week today (Jan. 10) for the week of January 3-9.

    Stina Gardell: Women's Swimming: In her first meet as a Trojan the freshman Gardell won the 200y breast and the 200y individual medley to help the No. 5 USC women's swim team to a 156-92 win over UC Santa Barbara. USC improved to 8-0 win the win.

    Alex Stepheson: Men's Basketball: The Senior forward Stepheson had his biggest game of the year with 13 points and 16 rebounds to lead Southern California's inside game and the Trojans defeated UCLA 63-52 Sunday night for their fourth straight win over their crosstown rival. Stepheson's 16 rebounds set a new career high eclipsing his previous best of 15 as he tallied his sixth double-double of the year. Stepheson was playing in his first game since having his cast removed after breaking a bone in his hand early in the season.
