Former USC women's volleyball player Kelli Tennant, whose rise up the ranks in the sports broadcasting world has now landed her as a host on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and SportsNet LA, has authored a book, "The Transition: Every Athlete's Guide To Life After Sports." Inspired by the challenges she faced when her playing career was cut short by injury, Tennant began working on the book in 2009. She openly writes about her struggles and also includes real-life anecdotes from numerous professional, Olympic and collegiate athletes, including ex-Laker Luke Walton, who wrote the book's foreword. The book concludes with a game plan to help athletes adjust.
Tennant's goal is to get the book into the hands of as many transitioning athletes as possible, from the high school to the pro levels."The cheering will stop," Tennant writes. "This book is to help prepare you before that day comes so you have the tools to make the transition, successfully." "The Transition" is available on Amazon or Kindle. A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to charities that benefit disadvantaged athletes, including USC's Swim With Mike.
