Salas on the Board

USC women's golf alum Lizette Salas enjoyed a breakthrough victory Sunday by besting the field at Kingsmill by four strokes en route to the first LPGA win of her career.  The four-time All-American, who is still just 24, finished at 13-under 271 and earned $195,000.

Salas is an inspiring example of the American dream as the daughter of Mexican immigrants.  She learned to play golf when her father, the head mechanic at Azusa Greens Country Club, did some work for the club pro and requested that he teach Lizette the game instead of monetary payment.

"I was patient, I was happy, and I was ready most importantly," she said after the final round. "I took a different approach this week of not thinking so much and trying to be perfect."
