The school year may be wrapping up but the road to NCAA Championships is just beginning with four teams receiving their seedings as they look to bring a national championship home to USC.
Men's Tennis: The No. 1 ranked Trojans enter the NCAA tournament as the force to be reckoned with a 26-3 overall record and an undefeated record in Pac-12 regular season play. This will be the Trojans' eighth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and 36th overall appearance. They will host Idaho, Oklahoma State and Michigan with action beginning on May 10th as the USC men look to return to the NCAA Championship, which they won four years straight from 2009-2012. The last time the Trojans were ranked No. 1 entering the NCAA tournament was in 2012 when they last won the title, capturing a nation-best 20th title for the program.
Women's Tennis: The Women of Troy will kick the postseason off entering the NCAA tournament ranked No. 16 and will host Idaho, Fresno State and Michigan in the first two rounds which begin on May 9th. This will be the Women of Troy's 23rd consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and 32nd overall visit. Despite losing Sabrina Santamaria midway through the spring, the USC women still boast the 2014 Pac-12 Doubles champions in Kaitlyn Christian and Giuliana Olmos and Pac-12 Individuals finalist Zoe Scandalis. Look for the Women of Troy to improve on what they started last year when they made it to the round of 16 and lost to Stanford.
Women's Golf: Despite finishing second in the Pac-12 Championships, the Women of Troy were selected as the number one seed in the NCAA West Regional. The USC women are the defending NCAA champions and return all five starters from last year's squad including the No. 2 ranked Annie Park and senior Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Sophia Popov. The Women of Troy have won an NCAA best nine regionals and lead the country with a current streak of eight consecutive NCAA top 5 finishes. NCAA regional play begins on May 8th when the USC women travel to Washington looking for their fifth consecutive regional crown.
Women's Water Polo: The defending national champions and hosts of the 2014 NCAA Tournament will enter postseason play as a No. 3 seed in their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Women of Troy will begin their quest for their fifth national title and USC's 100th team NCAA championship when they face UC Irvine on May 9th. The USC women are led by the 2013 National Player of the Year, junior Monica Vavic, and senior goalie Flora Bolonyai who recently took over as the all-time saves leader for USC. The Women of Troy return nine players from last year's championship team including six All-Americans which they will need to defend their crown against conference rival and No. 1 seed Stanford.
