Gauntlet Update: Trojans Surge Ahead

Despite trailing most of the season, USC has overcome UCLA to take the lead in the 2013-14 Crosstown Gauntlet with only three regular season events to go.

Gauntlet Update: USC 52.5, UCLA 47.5

The Trojans' comeback was keyed by baseball's first three-game sweep of the Bruins since 2005.  Plus, USC men's and women's golf finished ahead of UCLA in the Pac-12 Championships to collect all the points in its respective sports.

While several potential postseason encounters could disrupt the standings, USC and UCLA are only scheduled to square off three more times starting with Saturday's Dual Meet in rowing at the Port of Los Angeles (8 a.m.).

The annual Dual Meet between USC and UCLA track and field is the final planned showdown of the school year (Sunday, May 4, in Westwood), and could be the Trojans' chance to reclaim the city dominance which they ceded last year after winning the Gauntlet for five consecutive seasons.
