Program Changing Victory

Stanford women's basketball has owned the Pac-12 conference for more than a decade.  The Cardinal have won the last seven conference tournaments.  That is until now.

In the first year under head coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, the Women of Troy have planted their flag by knocking Stanford out of the Pac-12 Tournament and advancing to Sunday's final (ESPN at 6 p.m.).  The Trojans likely sealed an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament, although they can earn an automatic bid to the Big Dance by winning the final.

To overcome Stanford and superstar Chiney Ogwumike (30 points and 21 rebounds), the Women of Troy needed a complete team effort.  USC's All-Pac-12 center Cassie Harberts struggled most of the game, but Alexyz Vaioletama picked her up scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.  But in the final two minutes, Harberts showed up big time tallying 10 consecutive points.
