No. 4 USC men's swimming and diving is off to a fast start at the Pac-12 Championships defending its title in the 800 free relay.  The Trojans also took third in the 200y medley relay to sit atop the standings after day one of the four-day meet in Washington.

The champion relay team is a mixture of veteran stalwarts Dimitri Colupaev and Cristian Quintero plus freshmen Dylan Carter and Reed Malone.  Colupaev and Quintero were also part of last year's win as USC posted back-to-back firsts in the 800y free relay for the first time since 2001-02, and the current quartet lowered the school record to 6:12.54.

"The 800 free relay has always defined the team that has put in the work," said head coach Dave Salo. "I'm really proud of the team, especially the two freshmen throwing down some good splits. This gives us some momentum going into tomorrow as we challenge for the team title."
