Making the Most of It

USC men's basketball forward Darion Clark had surgery recently to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.  The Charlotte transfer is forced to sit out the season anyway, but he'll have three years of eligibility remaining when he comes back.

With no competitive basketball to worry about, Clark is using the added time to better his new community earning Trojan Community Outreach Athlete of the Month.

Clark's highlights off the court start with a visit to 99th Street Elementary in Watts as part of USC's SCORE Initiative. He spoke with local kids about academics, health, teamwork, and community responsibility before cheering them on at their basketball practice on the blacktop.  In January, he hosted a basketball clinic for Cub Scouts with three other teammates.
