Tribute to Ernie Hix

Hix 15B.jpgErnie Hix is regarded as the father of USC men's volleyball.  He took the program from its infancy and grew it into national champions in 1977 and 1980.

For that and all the lives he touched along the way, Hix will be honored at Saturday's men's volleyball preseason banquet in the Galen Center Founders' Room.  More than 200 former players, coaches and fans are expected to show up for a tribute to Hix, and you are invited as well.

Click here to RSVP or pay $50 at the door.  The event begins with a 5 p.m. reception followed by 6 p.m. dinner and program.

"Ernie Hix laid the foundation and fostered the development of the team throughout the 70s and 80s," said All-American Bob Yoder.  Along with Yoder, Hix coached Trojan All-Americans Celso Kalache, Tim Hovland, Dusty Dvorak, Pat Powers, Steve Timmons and Bill Stetson.

Along with the tribute to Hix, the 2014 men's volleyball team will be introduced.  USC is currently ranked No. 5 nationally, and the Trojans open the home schedule Friday night at 7 p.m. PT vs. UC San Diego.

USC defeated Loyola-Chicago to start the season on the road before having the match at Lewis cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.

Fight On!

Congrats Ernie. Congrats on a well deserved recognition. Also, thank you for all of the kind words you gave me during my time at USC.
