"The Fun Part"

Under new head coach Andy Enfield, USC men's basketball navigated a treacherous non-conference schedule to emerge 9-4 with a solid NCAA resume.  The Trojans have an RPI Top 25 win over Xavier and a quality road win at Dayton.

While the Trojans have surprised to this point, they will really have to step their game up to survive the Pac-12 gauntlet.  The conference is loaded this season with three RPI Top 10 teams including undefeated Arizona and Oregon.

USC opens Pac-12 play at UCLA (RPI No. 46) after beating the Bruins in Pauley Pavilion last season.  The Trojans then return home to face Arizona State (Thursday, January 9 at 7 p.m.) before welcoming No. 1 Arizona (Sunday, January 12 at 6 p.m.).

"This is the fun part," said Enfield.  "That's about as tough a schedule as it gets. We need to keep improving and also be more specific with game planning."

On Sunday, Enfield will match wits with Steve Alford for the first time as both new coaches get indoctrinated into the Crosstown Rivalry.  Here is a game preview featuring Enfield, Byron Wesley and Julian Jacobs...
