High School: Rancho Cucamonga
Game: Hoey is a really exciting young player for the Trojans who exhibits tremendous talent and potential. On the one hand, he's a big hitter who drives the ball down fairways but he also has fantastic command of his short game. Look for the freshman to continue to impress throughout his time here at 'SC.
Prep Career: Hoey had quite the resume before attending USC as he competed as a top junior player winning the 2013 CIF Southern Section Boys' Golf individual title as well as four league titles. He was the No. 14 overall recruit for the class of 2012 as he also reached the match-play portion of the 2013 U.S. Amateur tournament. He wrapped up 2012 by winning the 2012 Callaway Junior World Championship and the 2012 Junior America's Cup and finishing seventh at the 2012 California State Open.
2013 Season: Hoey has made an immediate impact as a freshman as he was the Trojans' top golfer during the fall slate. He led the Trojans with a 70.91 stroke average and even had four rounds in the 60s. He wrapped up the fall schedule by winning his first collegiate tournament, the Gifford Collegiate, by posting an 8-under for the weekend. The freshman is expected to be a leader this spring as the Trojans schedule kicks into high gear.
To Quote Hoey: "I love it so far, the team is great. I love the environment and just going to 'SC is fantastic. I chose 'SC because of the spirit of the school and I felt like I could really improve my game here."
