Name: Lucas Yoder

Position: Outside Hitter

Class: Freshman

Size: 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds

Age: 17

High School: San Clemente

Game: Yoder will be an immediate threat for the men's volleyball team as he brings experience as well as a quick arm, great blocking skills and tremendous natural ability. Head coach Bill Ferguson compared the freshman to former USC All-American Tri Bourne when Yoder first signed with the Trojans. Look for him to make an impact at the net with his strong attacking mindset.

Prep Career: Yoder boasts impressive high school experience as he competed for the elite 949 volleyball club where he won a gold medal at the 2013 USA Junior National Championships and was MVP of the 18 Open Gold Division All-Tournament team. He was also a member of the 2012 USA Youth National Training team, the 2011 USA Future Select A2 team and the 2010 USA Future Select team. Yoder is also no stranger to the Trojan Family as he is one of six Yoders to play volleyball at USC.

2014 Season: Yoder may be young, but he's playing like a veteran on the court for the Trojans. In his first-ever collegiate match against No. 7 ranked Loyola, the freshman had a match-best 16 kills and only had two hitting errors on 23 swings. He also contributed five digs and three blocks with a .609 hitting percentage. That performance earned him AVCA Division I-II National Player of the Week, MPSF Player of the Week and Off the Block National Freshman of the Week honors.

To Quote Yoder: "Our team expectation is to obviously win a national championship. What goes along with that is the process of coming out every day and practicing hard, taking it game by game and trying to really focus on battling each team."
