Johnson and Farah Fall Down Under

USC men's tennis alums Steve Johnson and Robert Farah battled the oppressive heat and impressive opponents at the Australian Open, the first major of the year, but they both lost matches in the final set.

Johnson made the singles main draw losing to France's Adrian Mannarino in a five-set classic.  He has a habit of playing five-set matches in majors going the distance in four of his last five at the sport's biggest tournaments.

In the doubles draw, Robert Farah and his partner Juan Sebastian Cabal lost in the maximum three sets to No. 12 Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot.  Farah and Cabal were riding momentum into the tournament having beaten Roger Federer and Nicolas Mahut in Brisbane earlier this month.

Temperatures have been over 100-degrees all week.
