Wesley-UCLA14-McG.jpgWhen the Trojans lose games, similar patterns tend to emerge.  They start slow, commit turnovers, and shoot poorly from three-point range and the free throw line.  Tonight, all four weaknesses were exposed, although it was not for lack of effort.  "We're a streaky shooting team," said head coach Andy Enfield about his team's 36.1% shooting from the field.  "They played hard the whole game, but we were not making shots and it hurt us.  It wasn't their night from a shooting perspective, but they played hard."  USC committed 16 turnovers leading to 21 points for ASU.  The Trojans made just 3/17 from distance and 13/25 from the line.  "Certain people tend to rush when they are at the free throw line," Byron Wesley explained the free throw struggles.  "I think the key is just taking time."

Byron on the Boards

Wesley was once again a bright spot scoring 20 points and pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds.  He had never had more than 11 rebounds in a game before tonight, but explained that he was just getting the bounce of the ball early which padded his numbers.  Despite his individual brilliance, Wesley is frustrated with the 0-2 start to Pac-12 play.  "It's just tough losing.  It's a team game," he said.  "Me as well as my teammates, we all need to pick it up and start playing better."

Bear Down

The Trojans have no time to lick their wounds with the undefeated No. 1 Arizona Wildcats coming to Galen Center on Sunday at 6 p.m.  "The crazy thing is I've actually felt like we've been practicing the best we've practiced all year this past couple of weeks," said Wesley.  "We're still confident. We're not scared of them.  We're looking forward to it."  Despite back-to-back blowout losses, Enfield is the picture of confidence and refuses to get down on his team.  "We're staying very positive with this group," he said.  "I love coaching them.  We're going to stay together as a team and compete.  That's what we are going to do Sunday against a very, very good Arizona team."
