The Baxter Bowl

John Baxter has spent the last 17 years coaching at Fresno State (1997-2009) and USC (2010-present).  The special teams guru will come into focus next week as the Las Vegas Bowl pits his two institutions against one and other.

Baxter was at the center of the circus in 2005 as well, which was the last time the Bulldogs and Trojans squared off.  While USC won the game, Fresno's special teams units played a key role in making the night an instant classic by forcing a turnover on kickoff coverage and gaining 148 yards on 6 returns by Adam Jennings.

While the Coliseum tunnel has changed since that night, as you can see from the photos below (2005 and 2011), Baxter cuts the same pose.
